2019 Kagami Biraki

2019 Kagami Biraki

Thanks to everyone for joining us at Kagami Biraki, our Japanese New Year celebration. Kagami Biraki, or “Opening the Mirror,” is practiced by many Japanese martial arts dojos as a way to celebrate the first training of the year. We started with a thorough cleaning of the dojo, followed by two aikido classes, and then a potluck celebration at the dojo. While this was not our first official training of the year, it was a great opportunity to refresh and honor the space we train in to bring in the new year.

As we enter our second year here in the Roaring Fork Valley we celebrate not only the dojo that we are so lucky to have but the community that we are all building within its walls.
